Filtration of hydrogen sulphide (H2S) in water supply is an important process to ensure the removal of this foul-smelling and potentially harmful gas from drinking water. Hydrogen sulphide can enter water supplies through various means, including natural sources, industrial processes, and decaying organic matter.
The presence of H2S in drinking water is not only unpleasant due to its characteristic rotten egg odour but can also have adverse health effects at high concentrations. Clack Hydrogen Sulphide Water Filters utilise catalytic carbon to effectively eliminate hydrogen sulphide from water sources.
Catalytic carbon is one of the most common methods for removing hydrogen sulphide from water. Catalytic carbon is highly porous and has a large surface area, which allows it to adsorb and capture H2S molecules. As water passes through the carbon filter, the hydrogen sulphide is trapped on the surface of the carbon particles.
