Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual  For IWE SDS Series Ultraviolet Disinfection Water System

Thank you for purchasing an Industrial Water Equipment ultraviolet disinfection water system. This manual will help you get the very best from your new system. It covers the installation, operation and maintenance of your new UV system.

PLEASE READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE BEGINNING TO INSTALL OR TURN ON THE EQUIPMENT. THIS IS TO KEEP YOU AND THE EQUIPMENT SAFE.

System Installation

1 – Open your UV Water filter package and ensure you have the correct contents enclosed.

The contents should include :

  • UV Reactor chamber
  • UV Lamp
  • Quartz Sleeve
  • O-Ring
  • Electronic Ballast

2 – Please ensure your Quartz Sleeve and UV Lamp are both free from damage and clean before attempting installation.

Handle the Quartz Sleeve and UV Lamp using soft non abrasive gloves to stop finger marks.

3 – Unscrew the open and closed end nut from the chamber.

4 – Place the o-ring on to the open end of the Quartz sleeve, the o-ring should be placed roughly 12mm from the open end of the sleeve.

5 – Carefully insert the Quartz sleeve in the reactor chamber.

6 – Install the o-ring onto the closed end of the quartz sleeve.

7 – Screw the closed end nut onto the chamber, do not over tighten the the nut – hand tight is sufficient.

8 – Screw the open end nut onto the chamber, do not over tighten the nut – hand tight is sufficient.

9 – Connect the 2 pin connector to the UV Lamp

10 – Insert the UV lamp into the Quartz Sleeve through the open end nut.

11 – Place the cover cap onto the open end nut and hand tighten

12 – Repeat the same process to install the remaining uv lamps into the reactor chamber

13 – Choose an easily accessible and well lit location to install your UV filter. Your UV can either be installed horizontally or vertically.

14 – When all connections are completed, slowly switch the water supply back on whilst checking for any water leaks.

15 – Allow water to run through the UV filter for a few minutes in order to rinse any dust or debris that may be present within the system

16 – Connect the UV power supply to mains

System operation

Water quality guidelines

Your UV water filter is designed to operate with visually clear water, not coloured, turbid or cloudy.

  • Ambient Water Temperature: 2-45℃
  • Iron: <0.3ppm (0.3mg/l)
  • Hardness: <7gpg (120mg/l)
  • Turbidity: <1NTU
  • Manganese: 0.05ppm (0.05mg/l)
  • UV Transmittance: >75%

Check all connections prior to switching on the power to the unit

Visually check the Quartz sleeve(s) and UV Lamp(s) for signs of damage, do not switch on the unit if any damage is present.

Your UV Water filter is designed for continuous operation. Frequent powering on and off of the unit will dramatically reduce the life of the UV Lamp.

If your UV Water filter becomes submerged in water power off the unit and retrieve, do not attempt to power back on the unit should this occour. Please contact Industrial Water Equipment for further advice.

If your UV Water filter has been dropped , or the power cable or plug has been in damaged any way do not use the unit. Please contact Industrial Water Equipment for further advice.

Your UV water filter is designed to operate after the filter on the return line.

Always disconnect the water supply and drain the UV water filter if your unit is going to be subject to temperatures below 0ºC for an extended period of time.

System maintenance

Monthly visual inspection for signs of damage

UV lamp replacement is recommend after every 9000 hrs of operation. After this period of time your UV lamp may still be operational, however the intensity of the UV will be greatly diminished.

Clean the Quartz sleeve(s) every 3-6 months with alcohol or a mild detergent

The SDS UV Water Filter carries a 1 year warranty.
