The extremely simple handling, low investment and operating costs and various possibilities of application in household, leisure and industry make the Aquada equipment the ideal model to start with in environmentally friendly UV disinfection.

The Aquada UV system is suitable everywhere that drinking water is taken from its own sources or the quality from public networks is no longer sufficient for your own needs. Moreover, it is used in residential treatment plants for waste water disinfection, in process water circulations, aquarium or private swimming pools, ventilation and air-conditioning, fountains and water attractions.
How does the Aquada work?

The wavelength of UV light required for disinfection is ensured by a centrally arranged low-pressure lamp in the high-grade steel chamber. The cladding sleeve out of quartz glass ensures that only UV light of the effective wavelength for disinfection acts on the water. The power supply developed for this makes operation possible in all networks worldwide. An optimal and smooth operation is ensured in this way in combination with the UV control device.

Simple installation and low-maintenance handling

Aquada UV systems can be integrated into existing water pipeline systems without a great deal of effort. The clear construction and simple handling mean that even laymen can get started with this environmentally friendly water disinfection technology. The UV lamps used can be operated for at least one year and can be easily exchanged. The lamps and quartz sleeves can be assembled/disassembled without tools.

Economy

The Aquada UV system for the disinfection of your entire process and drinking water does not use any more energy than a standard bulb (35 – 85 Watts). Measured on efficiency, illuminants are not even competition: The efficiency (desired light yield in relation to energy expenditure) of the low-pressure emitters used is nearly three times higher at 35% than with modern energy-saving lamps (12 – 15% efficiency).

You can choose between three Aquada types. Each of these systems is available in five different sizes, meaning we can meet every individual requirement – private or commercial/industrial. The UV disinfection systems of the WEDECO A series destroys bacteria, viruses, yeasts, parasites and cryptosporidiae efficiently and environmentally compatibly, without using chemicals.

The efficient and temperature-stable WEDECO Spektrotherm® lamps inside the disinfection reactor facilitate extremely compact design and guarantee maximum disinfection of water at all temperatures from hot to very cold.
The systems are certified according to the german DVGW standard W294-2 as well as the Austrian ÖNORM M5873-1. As a result an uncompromising secure disinfection performance is guaranteed.

Efficient & Effective: WEDECO Spektrotherm® technology

At the heart of the A series is the high performance Spektrotherm® lamp. Its excellent UVC output is allied to high efficiency and outstanding temperature stability, i.e. its UV output remains virtually constant, irrespective of whether the surrounding water is hot or cold. The Spektrotherm® lamp emits at a wavelength of 254 nm, which is in the maximum of the effective disinfection range of the spectrum.

The high UV-C output means that the WEDECO A series UV systems have only one Spektrotherm® lamp, whereas conventional UV systems need several lamps. This, together with the long life of the Spektrotherm® lamp, results in very low operating costs for users of the A series.

UV disinfection chamber

The UV disinfection chamber is made of electropolished high grade stainless steel. The Spektrotherm® lamp is fitted centrally. Specially developed and optimised flow baffles guarantee uniform exposure to the UV radiation and ensure the best disinfection results. In the disinfection chamber, a UV sensor is accommodated in a standardised tube with a measurement window. Other advantages of the A series are the option of variable fitting in the water pipes, minimal loss of pressure, and easy cleaning thanks to a removable protective quartz sleeve.

Spectrum emission controller (SEC)

The Spectrum Emission Controller (SEC) handles all control and monitoring functions of the UV system. The appropriate remote monitoring outputs are provided. An easy to operate front panel with a large display provides continuous information about all operating conditions. The stable, calibrated UV sensor, according to DVGW and ÖNORM measures the radiation intensity. Disinfection performance is thus permanently under control.

Surrounded by water and yet a precious commodity: Micro-biologically harmless drinking or industrial water on sea and inland vessels has always been a basic condition for every successful passage. In order to always be able to provide the precious water in germ-free quality, we have developed the UV disinfection system WEDECO SA especially for navigation.

Perfect quality of drinking water without the addition of chemicals

An effective and environmentally friendly inactivation of bacteria, viruses, yeasts and parasites (such as cryptosporidia and giardia) is achieved with the WEDECO SA UV system, without using chemicals such as chlorine.

The highly efficient and temperature-stable WEDECO Spektrotherm UV lamp inside the disinfection chamber allows an extremely compact construction and guarantees maximum disinfection both in the case of very cold water and in warm-water systems. In contrast with conventional UV systems, the WEDECO SA system can also be operated without any problems even at high ambient temperatures (e.g. in the engine room) up to 50°C.

Numerous options and variations facilitate the integration into existing processes.

The reactors of the WEDECO BX series are equipped with efficient high-performance low-pressure Spektrotherm® UV lamps. In combination with special flow installations for the improvement of hydraulic conditions, very good disinfection results are achieved with low energy consumption at the same time.

Vario dose control: Less energy consumption – longer emitter running times

The Spektrotherm® lamp technology does not only enable an increased UV-C performance, but also a variable controlling of the lamp power from 50 – 100%. This development makes using the modern dose control possible, which leads both to a reduction of the energy consumption and to extended emitter lifetimes.

Automatic wiping system reduces deposits

BX UV systems are already designed for fast and simple maintenance, e.g. through simple disassembly with manual cleaning or the standard integrated chemical rinsing system. In addition, WEDECO BX equipment can be optionally fitted with an automatic wiping system, which prevents the formation of organic and inorganic deposits on the protective quartz pipes. Therefore interruptions to operation are practically ruled out thanks to manual cleaning of the emitter cladding pipes. The chemical-free wiping system works with PTFE viton wiper rings, which are not impaired themselves by the intensive UV-radiation at the emitter surface.

The LBX series fulfils all the requirements for safe, economical and environmentally friendly disinfection of liquids with low UV transmittance like biological pretreated wastewater, drinking water, process water or sugar syrup.

The LBX series combines the WEDECO Spektrotherm® lamp with a hydraulically optimized reactor chamber. The tight positioning of the lamps enables the treatment of water with low UV transmittance. Electronic ballasts specifically configured for the Spektrotherm® lamps are used to increase efficiency and lamp lifetime.

The result is an extremely compact design, improved economy and maximum disinfection performance even with turbid water. Flow rates of more than 1,000 m3/h per reactor are now possible.

UV dose control with the WEDECO variable system

WEDECO LBX systems can be optionally equipped with a fully automatic dose control. This unique feature of the WEDECO technology enables the output to be exactly adjusted to the water quality and flow. Overdosage is thereby avoided.

The output of the Spektrotherm®HP lamp is continuously controlled, resulting in substantial reduction of operation cost. The radiation intensity is determined at a representative point within the UV reactor and serves, together with the flow signal, to regulate UV output.

Automatic Wiping System reduces scale formation

LBX UV systems are designed for quick maintenance. It can be dismantled easily for manual cleaning and is prepared to be connected with an optional chemical rinsing system.

Additionally the UV reactor can optionally be equipped with an Automatic Wiping System to prevent scale formation on the quartz sleeves. As a result, the intermittent manual cleaning using chemical cleaning agents sleeves will hardly be required. The chemical free Wiping System employs PTFE/ Viton sandwich wipers which avoid formation of organic and inorganic deposits on the protective quartz tubes while being unaffected by the high intensity UV light at the lamp surface.

Enterprises from the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and semiconductor industry require ultra pure water for the production process (purified water PW, HPW, UPW). The UV system WEDECO E/ME has been specially developed for these high requirements.

The special characteristic is the inline principle: The water flows through a quartz glass reactor and is irradiated from outside. Thus the preparation process is kept completely closed, free from built-in parts in the process medium and virtually without pressure loss. Since this is a purely physical disinfection technique, no additives are put into to the water. As part of the production of ultra pure water, the WEDECO E/ME system is outstandingly suited for disinfection as well as for ozone remnant destruction.

With the type series E, all system components (quartz reactor and electro-technology) are integrated in a compact stainless steel housing. With the ME systems, the electro-technology is in a separate control cabinet. The reactor consists of a quartz glass pipe with external UV emitters and reflectors arranged parallel to the flow.

Disinfect reliably – think sustainably

The elementary UV disinfection requirement in the treatment process is primarily the chemical-free inactivation of viruses, bacteria and parasites such as Cryptosporidium and Guardia – without creating unwanted smells or precarious by-products.

Moreover, further aspects play an ever more important role for water utility operators: Sustainability, environmental compatibility and last but not least energy consumption are important factors for choosing the right technology in times of decreasing resources. And it is here that the UV disinfection system WEDECO K can show off its unique strengths.

WEDECO Spektrotherm® UV lamp – the most beneficial solution compared to medium-pressure emitters. Compared to UV disinfection systems with medium-pressure lamps the WEDECO K series with the highly efficient WEDECO Spektrotherm lamp technology is the most beneficial solution for meeting ecological and economic requirements. The Spektrotherm® low-pressure high-intensity UV lamp sets benchmarks in terms of UV performance and economic efficiency. A special doping (amalgam/indium alloy) and electronic ballasts developed especially for this type of lamp lead to outstanding characteristics for the operation of the UV system.

A low coating formation on the quartz sleeves thanks to the low lamp temperature means cleaning is only rarely necessary. Thus there is no need for an expensive mechanical wiping device.

UV dose control with the WEDECO Vario system

The WEDECO K equipment can be fitted with fully automatic dose control as an option. This unique performance characteristic of the WEDECO technology makes it possible to accurately adapt the required UV performance to the respective water quality and flow rate. The performance of the Spektrotherm® lamp is continuously adjusted for this purpose. In addition, lamp rows can be connected or disconnected e.g. for night operation.

The UV intensity is recorded at a representative place in the UV reactor by means of UV sensors certified by the Austrian Association for Gas and Water (ÖVGW) and serves for regulating UV performance together with the flow signal.

Energy-efficiency: The decisive advantage of the WEDECO K series

The WEDECO K series is the solution with the lowest energy and service life costs. The WEDECO K series sets benchmarks in terms of economic efficiency with a very low current consumption, long lamp service lives, a variable control and moderate investment costs.

The biodosimetrically tested UV systems from the Spektron product range meet all the requirements of safe and environmentally friendly water disinfection according to §11 of the German drinking water regulation (TrinkwV 2001). They are certified according to Austrian ÖNORM and German DVGW directives.

The new Spektron range offers a wide array of uses from domestic water supply to industrial uses to large water plants with a capacity of more than one thousand m3/h. What makes them special is their consistent optimisation of hydraulic characteristics with the use of the unique CrossMix® module. The WEDECO TAK 55 lamp modules stand out with their robust, hydraulically optimised design – designed for long-term use. The compact UV lamp arrangement allows for highly concentrated power in a very small space. The result is disinfection performance secured at all times even with larger volume flows and low UV transmission from the waste water.

Depending on local circumstances and performance requirements, both the entire TAK system and the arrangement of the individual UV lamp modules can be customised – the number and arrangement of the modules, number of lamps per module and the distance of the UV lamp from one another – just about every detail is taken into consideration with the client’s wishes being the focus.

Storage containers or tanks for drinking water and other liquids – e.g. in the food and beverage industry – are prone to contamination due to pressure compensation valves in the head space area. The WEDECO TE/TA model is a simple and chemical-free method for suppressing this bacterial growth.

The TE/TA installation types consist of a Spektrotherm® lamp (high-performance low-pressure UV lamp) with a quartz cladding sleeve. The TE type series also has a high-grade steel protection guard, which offers the highest possible security for the quartz sleeve and thus for the medium. The systems are equipped with a lapped flange for simple installation into a tank filler neck. Moreover, the TE systems are suitable for CIP. Depending upon container size and application the number of emitters to be installed varies.

The WEDECO TE/TA equipment is also suitable for the disinfection of drinking water in fish farming (e.g. aquariums or zoos) as well as for the disinfection of surfaces.
